I.F. Gallery Hong Kong is proud to present “The snake eats its tail at daybreak,” a group exhibition featuring the works of seven emerging international artists—Yuno Fukuda, ISATO, Wing Mak, Carlos Koo, Anjali Purkayastha, Danni Shen, and Kaisha Woo. Staged between the start of the Gregorian year and the end of the Lunar Year of the Snake, the exhibition borrows the symbol of an ancient Ouroboros to explore the need of self-destruction for creation.
The Ouroboros serves dual connotations. First and foremost, it frames the curated journey of the show itself—a visual passage from darkness to light that embodies the notion of “the night is darkest just before dawn.” Second, it reflects the emergent nature of the featured artists. “Daybreak” speaks to their rising careers, highlighting the gallery’s commitment to providing a platform for these talents to break through, analogous to a serpent shedding its skin. The Ouroboros reveals a central paradox: renewal is both cyclical and relentlessly forward-moving.
By interweaving a diversity of artistic practices, the exhibition transmutes the artists’ powerful individualism into a collective journey tracing the primordial human cycle: dissolution into rebirth, the persistent light within darkness, and the inevitable dawn that ends the night. The symbol acts as a bridge, transforming a chorus of perspectives into a singular, resonant exploration of regeneration.
“The snake eats its tail at daybreak” ultimately presents a cohesive journey from occlusion to emergence, celebrating the resilience required to welcome the new day.
The exhibition opens on 10 January 2026 (Saturday), from 11 am to 7 pm, and remains on view until 23 January 2026 (Saturday).
